Lois Owsley has a BA in Violin Performance from Colorado State University and an MA in Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She has played in symphony orchestras and other musical events as well as taught hundreds of students on stringed instruments and piano in her Personal Notes Music Studio in Louisiana (Lake Charles, Alexandria, Natchitoches), Bountiful, Utah, California (Escondido, Poway, San Marcos, Monterey, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Lakewood) and now Colorado (Fort Collins, Loveland and Denver). She has been a member of MENC (a national association for music education), a long-time member of Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), and is currently a member of MTNA and with the local group FCMTA (Fort Collins Music Teacher’s Association).
Mrs. Owsley is a life-long learner in her field. She has attended many MTAC, MENC, SCSBOA and ASTA conferences, attended California State University Long Beach in 2007 to learn the changes that have occurred in music education, and has attended six week-long workshops hosted by Birch Bay String Orchestra Teachers in Ferndale, Washington. http://www.birchbaystringteachers.com/#!/page_About She has attended many Dalcroze workshops and has studied cello with Professor Barbara Thiem.
Mrs. Lois Owsley provides personalized instruction on violin, viola, cello, bass and piano, a lab with computerized theory lessons, and opportunities to perform. She currently teaches in Fort Collins and South Suburban area in Denver.
Her recent opportunities to perform have included the Poudre Valley Hospital Orchestra, the Loveland Symphony, the praise team at church, weddings and Stonegate Rehab Center in Parker, Colorado.
